Atlas of remote islands

A tale about longing and hope

Atlas of remote islands
– A tale of longing, isolation and hope.

You’ve probably also done it, just like I did, when I was a child. Opening the atlas on a random page or let the globe spin around and choose a destination with eyes closed – imagining yourself to be an explorer who for the first time puts his feet on the shore of an unknown paradise island.

But is there such a paradise? Or is the whole world running full speed to the abyss? Wouldn’t it be better to close your eyes and ears instead of discovering the world, or lock yourself up in your room, and spare yourself for the daily flow of breaking news about wars, climate disasters, animal neglect, plastic waste and xenophobia? Why is nobody doing anything? Are we all of us turning into remote and isolated islands, without real contact, and without the courage and willingness to do something – before it’s too late?

Embark on a dramatic journey, filled with images and music, and travel with us to the most remote islands of the world. Meet lonely polar scientists, desperate treasure hunters and marooned slaves, say hello to some clever girls and courageous flight pioneers, hear about extinct animals and wandering mountains, the loneliest tree in the world and the boy who learned an unknown language in his dreams. Experience a true atlas filled with stories, as absurd and subtle as only reality can envision them. And let’s see if there’s hope yet.
