COLONY OF HOPE
Inhabitable installation about hope in a hopeless time
The children saw the adults tearing their hair: “It’s hopeless!”, they said, while heaven and earth were in flames. Finally, hope wriggled loose. The children reached out for it and started the Colony of Hope.
When you enter, you are assigned a bed. Together with the other residents, the bed is yours for the time you live here. In the dormitory, you are invited to crawl into hopeful caves with laboratories, rituals, stories and communal songs, all of which carry hope within them. In a world that can seem helpless with war, terror and climate change, you are invited into an interactive theater installation with children as hosts and storytellers, who call for wonder, sensuality, imagination and connectedness – in the hope that you too will make a mark.

★★★★★
»THE PERFORMANCE SEEMS LIKE SUCCESSFUL PROFESSIONAL PERFORMANCE ART. EVEN THOUGH IT IS PERFORMED BY CHILDREN – OR PRECISELY BECAUSE OF THAT. AT THE SAME TIME, THE COLONY OF HOPE CARRIES THE MOST IMPORTANT THEATRE MESSAGE EVER RIGHT NOW IN THIS GLOBALLY UNEXPECTED SPRING OF 2025. SO HERE COME FIVE SHINING STARS WITH THANKS FOR THE HOPE.«
★★★★★
»THE NEW PRODUCTION IS A WONDERFUL TOURING PERFORMANCE THAT OFFERS REALITY THEATRE IN A SAFE PROFESSIONAL FRAMEWORK. THE EMPATHIC INSTRUCTOR DUO NANNA BØNDERGAARD BUTTERS AND SIGNE KÆRUP DAHL HAVE ALLIED THEMSELVES WITH THE IMAGINATIVE SET DESIGNER DORTE HOLBEK, AND THE RESULT IS THEATRE AT CHILDREN’S LEVEL, BUT WITH PERSPECTIVES THAT ADULTS CAN ALSO BENEFIT FROM.«
★★★★★★
»SIGNE KÆRUP DAHL, NANNA BØNDERGAARD BUTTERS AND ANNE NYMARK ARE THE INGENUITIES BEHIND THE CONCEPT, AND IT IS VERY MOTIVATING AND A REALLY LITTLE STORY OF GENIUS TO LET THE CHILDREN HAVE THEIR SPEAK OUT IN THIS WAY. THE PARTICIPATING CHILDREN DESERVE THE GREATEST PRAISE FOR THEIR COURAGE AND NATURALITY.«
