ZeBU has since 2010 contributed with a program of shows and cultural activities that are both contemporary, current and goes in depth. The focus is on creating a sensory, emotional and interlectually teasing experiences that generates empathy, wonder and food for thought. At ZeBU we strive for high quality in all means and are constantly on the lookout for variation and innovation in style, form and dramaturgy.

Our repertoire – both our own, guest and festival productions – showcases a wide range of genres, styles within the variety and diversity of performing arts for children and young people. It varies from scriptbased theatre to opera, from interactive performances to dance and contemporary circus, from theatre based on themes to the classics. ZeBU also initiates, develops and supports projects that contributes to the strengthening and development of children’s and youth theatre. This is done through workshops, labs, cooperative projects, festivals and other artbased events. It is thereby a goal for ZeBU to play an active and visible part in Amager’s art- and cultural life.

»WE FOCUS ON CONTEMPORARY DANISH PLAYWRITING AND DEVELOPMENT OF NEW PERFORMANCE ART FORMARTS AND CONCEPTS – WITH THE COURAGE TO CHALLENGE EXISTING PRACTICES.«

– Theatre director Jørgen Carlslund

How is diversity in Danish children’s and youth theatre? ZeBU sought an answer to that question through the launch of the report – “A Moment of Diversity” – prepared by Nanna Bøndergaard Butters in 2019. The survey is based on interviews, art-based research and literature on diversity in connection with PRISMA, which was launched as a project to support efforts to make Danish children’s theater more diverse.
