COLONY OF HOPE
Inhabitable installation about hope in a hopeless time
The children saw the adults tearing their hair: “It’s hopeless!”, they said, while heaven and earth were in flames. Finally, hope wriggled loose. The children reached out for it and started the Colony of Hope.
When you enter, you are assigned a bed. Together with the other residents, the bed is yours for the time you live here. In the dormitory, you are invited to crawl into hopeful caves with laboratories, rituals, stories and communal songs, all of which carry hope within them. In a world that can seem helpless with war, terror and climate change, you are invited into an interactive theater installation with children as hosts and storytellers, who call for wonder, sensuality, imagination and connectedness – in the hope that you too will make a mark.
