MY NAME IS JOOP
An authentic story about a war child
Joop Vos’ personal memories – recorded through a series of longer interviews – become a moving story about a war child from the time of World War II told for children from today. How was it for Joop in 1945, and how is it now for a war child in 2023? What does it mean to grow up in war, to be driven from home, deported to a camp without knowing whether it is for a short or long time? Can today’s children imagine what it would be like to grow up in such harsh circumstances – or to open up the family home and share one’s bedroom with a stranger’s child? The performance is produced by Det første bogstav. Part of the income will be donated to Red Barnet, the Danish NGO.
