THE MAGICAL TRAVEL CARD
Musical theater about loving and missing
When Gerda missed her grandfather, she ran all the way out to him. Or when he missed her. Then they played rain and thunder and bellis in the grass, snow and sunflowers and soft ice. They played the nights dark and the dreams bright.
But one day there was silence. Completely silence. The wind stopped blowing, the curtain flapping, and the birds whistled. Grandfather’s chair was in its place, but where he should have been was now a hole – an empty Grandfather-shaped hole. Gerda had just turned 8 on the day her grandfather died. With him, the joy and the music had disappeared. Right up until the day the magical travel card appeared.
How do we talk about death with children?
Loss can be experienced differently, and it can be difficult to find the right words. The National Association Liv&Død works to start a good conversation about death and how it can both be understood and expressed at the level of children. Click here for more information.
