THE MAGICAL TRAVEL CARD

Musical theater about loving and missing

When Gerda missed her grandfather, she ran all the way to him. Or when he missed her. Then they played rain and thunder and ice cream in the grass, snow and sunflowers and soft ice cream. They played the nights dark and the dreams bright.

But one day it became quiet. Completely quiet. The wind stopped howling, the curtain stopped flapping, and the birds fell silent in a whistle. Grandfather’s chair stood in its place, but where he should have been, there was now a hole – an empty grandfather-shaped hole. Gerda had just turned 8 the day her grandfather died. With him, the joy and music had disappeared. Until the day the magical travel card appeared.

How do we talk about death with children?
Loss can be experienced differently, and it can be difficult to find the right words. The National Association Liv&Død works to start a good conversation about death, and how it can both be understood and articulated at a child’s level. Click here to get more knowledge.
