THE MAGICAL TRAVEL CARD
Musical theater about loving and missing
When Gerda missed her grandfather, Gerda ran all the way out to him. Or when he missed her. Then they played rain and thunder and bellis in the grass, snow and sunflowers and soft ice. They played the nights dark and the dreams bright.
But one day there was silence. Completely silence. The wind stopped blowing, the curtain flapping, and the birds fell silent in one whistle. Grandfather’s chair was in its place, but where he should have been there was now a hole – an empty Grandfather-shaped hole. Gerda had just turned 8 on the day her grandfather died. With him the joy and the music had disappeared. Right up until the day the magical travel card appeared.
The performance is a co-production by Signe Kærup Dahl and ZeBU.
How do we talk to children about death?
Loss can be experienced differently, and it can be difficult to find the right words. Get more information via the national association Liv&Død by clicking here. The association works to start the good conversation about death and how it can be understood and expressed at the level of children.
