THE NIGHT IS MADE OF GLASS
Juvenile fantasy about youthful lassitude
Youthful lust, budding sexuality and coincidences at a party turn Naja’s life upside down. One day popular girl in 9.A, the next day star whore. It starts on Monday morning in class in the middle of a presentation about Kristallnacht in 1938…
I look up at the sky. The night is made of glass. Glass crackling in the dark, most of all in the dark, right before I go to sleep… It’s also because I put those pants on. The ones with the stars. If I hadn’t been wearing them, Lucas would never have made that star ass snap. Caro says I should pretend it’s nothing. Lucas the asshole suffers from star envy. Of course, when you’re an asshole yourself! If only I had gotten my first kiss from Jonas and not from Rasmus. The rumors probably hadn’t started then. And then I had never held that party. That party was a mistake. On a scale of one to ten, it was a thousand mistakes. If it wasn’t for that party, Caro would still be my best friend. And Jonas maybe my boyfriend? Now Jonas has reported me for violence…

TAKE THE CONVERSATION FURTHER IN THE CLASSROOM
The night is made of glass is about the gray areas in digital violations, and playwright Betina Grove has been very inspired by the podcast “Blackout – The girl in the picture” on DR, which you can listen to by following the above link. Save the Children has also produced very useful material on digital violations. Find the teaching material “Stand forward and say from” aimed at the training by following the link above.
It is also possible to receive parts of the script from the performance for teaching purposes. Contact playwright Betina Grove at betina@teatretsttv.dk if interested.
