Sne og sand won the Danish Playwright Manuscript Prize for Children and Young People 2020 for a strong idiom and simple staging. The performance revolves around divorce and loneliness in a story about the boy Johan who uses his imagination as a way out. But what happens when the imagination is out of control?
Johan has lost his key and is locked out. When will mom come home? Darkness descends over the snow in the block of flats. Mother works all the time and his parents no longer live together. Johan has to fend for himself as best he can. He uses his imagination to create meaning in life. If you make a story inside your head about the things that happen in life, then the reality is actually not so bad. There are snowballs and love, failures and revelations.
