UNFINISHED TALES
What is it like to be young in the wake of colonialism?
Nordic colonialism is a complex story with many voices. In the live installation, they meet in a raw and poetic atmospheric archive of the emotional legacy of colonialism and collective memories, told and experienced by young people from the Nordics, Ghana and St. Croix.
Two performers are on stage. Between them a box. In the box are stories, thoughts and questions. Sometimes they agree. Other times not. But they are still connected. Together with the audience, they unfold the stories in a poetic and sensory-saturated space, where the scent of coffee, small landscapes of sugar, film and words are taken up and brought to life with both tenderness, attention, seriousness, humor, and respect.
As the stories create the space, the audience will be able to move around, guided by the two performers. In the end, the audience can freely experience everything that has been unfolded and told. Both performers speak Danish, but English will also be included, as well as several Nordic languages such as Twi, Ewe and Dangbe. The performance is produced by NextDoor Project in collaboration with choreographers and young participants from the Nordics, Ghana and St. Croix.
