VAI VIA
Poetic and musical history of life's ups and downs
Rita is an old woman who lives on the street in a converted double bass box. In the box she hides an alarm clock, her dentures and a picture of her children. Every night she kisses them goodnight before going to sleep in the safe cavity of the double bass box. During the day she trudges around the streets of the big city, and although she is often scolded and chased away, she never gives up hope of finding a quiet place to sleep at night.
How did she end up there, why is she always seen with a smile on her face, what was her life like? And is it true that she was once the country’s most famous female jazz double bassist?
Vai via is a co-production by Xirriquiteula Teatre (Catalonia) and ZeBU, which uses mimicry, quirky objects and lots of music to tell the moving story of her life.
